Hey Pat, when it comes to playing Hangman, I would NEVER question your credibility. Nobody knows the cutthroat strategy of that game better than you. But when it comes to questioning the legitimacy of scientists, how about you tone down the wild-eyed rhetoric there a bit you suave romancer you.

The Washington Post recently published an article asking, in light of Pope Francis fast-tracking Pope John Paul's sainthood, how "miraculous" should modern saints be?

Miracles, really?

Allied on Issue 2

March 24, 2014

My hometown of Elyria, Ohio is making the news of late. Apparently the school district is up for a tax levy renewal.

Today John McCain blasted the "timidity" of the Obama administration’s sanctions on Russian officials in response to the Russia/Ukraine conflict.

"One of the things that I would do is send some of our military to Kiev and find out how we can best assist them," said McCain.

This is why elections really do matter.

Hypocrisy Anyone?

December 31, 2013

MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry set the internet on fire this week with her comments about Mitt Romney having an adopted African American grandchild. Unsurprisingly Twitter, Facebook and the blogosphere erupted with myriad versions of convervatives crying "See! You liberals are racist too! It's not just us".

Inspired by a post in Bill Simmons' recent mailbag, I bring you 15 songs that should be background music for the next Viagra commercial:

I'm Still Standing - Elton John

Alive and Kicking - Simple Minds

Hello Again - Neal Diamond

All Through the Night - Cyndi Lauper

At Last - Etta James

Megyn Kelly of Fox News made the news recently for going (disturbingly) nuts in response to an article on Slate.com by an author, an African American woman, who wrote about the concept of a black Santa Claus.

Open Letter to Greg Gopman

December 12, 2013

Greg Gopman is a San Francisco techie and the founder of Angelhack, a startup that can generate a lot of good code quickly (or so I guess). He made the news recently not for his company but for taking to Facebook to denigrate the homeless and other "street people". A decent synopsis of the story can be found here.

Why Elections Matter

December 11, 2013

John McCain and other Republican leaders are up in arms this week, criticizing Obama for shaking hands with Raul Castro at Nelson Mandela's funeral. Perhaps the Republicans expected the President of the United States to give the Cuban President a menacing look, call him a commie pinko, and refuse to join the funeral proceedings until the "baddie" agreed to leave. Or in other words, how the GOP behaves in Congress.

Twenty years ago the skeptics said climate change wasn't happening. Scientists, (otherwise known as the experts) proved them wrong.

Then the skeptics accepted that climate change was actually happening, but argued it wasn't man made. Scientists, (otherwise known as the experts) proved them wrong.
